Ultra-hard cutting materials of diamond and carbide
Optimum cutting values must be adjusted to the individual machining situation and the whole of the surrounding field in every case. The following should be observed in general.
Practically all cutting speeds required can be used for the cutting material Monocrystalline Diamond. Its unsurpassable sharpness of cutting edge and wear resistance mean that it is the only known cutting material for which the cutting values can practically be varied at random downwards as well as upwards. When the overall situation is right then it is possible to power the chip capacity up properly and this can be done without any loss of quality or tool life.
With Polycrystalline Diamond on the other hand the cutting values given can be seen in a larger guideline, otherwise there may be decrease of performance.
To use all PCBN cutting Materials correctly, cutting values are of crucial importance for uncompromising performance optimisation in comparison with Diamond Cutting Materials. Where hard- turning and hard- milling are concerned the correct cutting values for each application are subject to a very narrow range. The disadvantage in this is that to a certain extent PCBN inserts on tool system are used that were originally designed for use on carbide or ceramics inserts. We are happy to advise you on your requirements.
